Masterboy and Beatrix Delgado

MASTERBOY

Legendary Eurodance group

In 1989, musician Enrico Zabler and DJ Tommy Schleh met in a London club and decided to create a music project. In January 1990, they founded Masterboy and released their first single, “Dance To The Beat,” which unexpectedly became a hit and stayed in the German charts for 16 weeks. Later, David Atterberry and Mendy Lee joined the group.

At the end of 1990, they released a new hit, “Shake Up And Dance,” which topped the charts in early 1991. The band members began working on their debut album while actively performing at events and in the media. Masterboy was gaining popularity, and they were invited to perform at private parties.

In 1991, the group became known across Europe and released the album The Masterboy Family. The British band Pet Shop Boys offered to release “Shake Up And Dance” in the UK. Soon after, the third single “I Need Your Love” came out.

In 1992, Masterboy toured Germany and abroad while working on their second album Feeling Alright, which was released in 1993. The first single, “Fall In Trance,” reached high positions on dance charts across Europe. Around the same time, the hit “Cause We Do It Again,” recorded with Trixi Delgado, was released. Their next single, “Everybody Needs Somebody,” also featuring Trixi, reached the top 30 in over 12 countries.

In 1994, Masterboy released the hit “I Got To Give It Up,” with a music video that became popular on MTV. This was followed by “Feel The Heat Of The Night,” which reached No. 2 on the French charts. That same year, the band released their third album Different Dreams.

At the end of 1994 and throughout 1995, Masterboy went on a world tour, gaining particular success in Brazil, where their songs were played on the radio up to 20 times a day. In mid-1995, they released the single “Generation Of Love,” which reached No. 16 in the German charts and was included in their fourth album of the same name.

In 1996, Trixi left the band for family reasons and was replaced by Linda Rocco. In 1997, they released the successful track “La Ola Hand In Hand,” but the band’s popularity began to decline. Between 1998 and 1999, Masterboy remained silent. They later returned with the song “Porque Te Vas” and a few more singles, though no new albums followed.

In 2000, they released the compilation Best of Masterboy, which reached No. 54 on the German album charts. Trixi Delgado rejoined the band.

In 2003, the group stopped producing new music, disappointing many fans. Ten years later, Masterboy unexpectedly returned and began performing live again.
